Idyllic place for a very very affordable price

As a summary I would say that it is an idyllic place for a very very affordable price. The best: staff was super friendly and helpful at all times; good food and cocktails; and good location in front of the beach (although in low season, be careful because all the longtail boats are parked in front, in high season, they park on Pattaya Beach).

In the low season, longtail boats park in front, so you need to be careful when you take a bath and do snorkeling. Wifi-connection: sometimes a bit slow, if you want to make Teams calls does not work too well, for the rest it is enough. Noisy fans in the rooms.

Unfortunately nearly no sandbeach left during high tide most of the day..... very noisy boats anchoring right in front of the Castaway Resort

Rustic Paradise

Loved the location, the restaurant, the beach bungalows and the staff The view from the beach bungalow was spectacular and being able to step out of the house and straight into the clear turquoise water. Blisss.

We are in our 50’s and struggled a little with the noise (right on the beach so noisy boats, the sound of the ocean, it’s rained and stormed a lot) so ear plugs are essential for light sleepers. I also struggled with the sheets they were not very soft or comfy and of course it was hot and no aircon! And that was different each night. We had two fans in our room which worked pretty well. Didn’t really miss the hot water We were there in wet season so our last few days it rained a lot and everything felt a bit damp.

What was the highlight of Castaway Resort Koh Lipe

Fantastic resort

Lovely bungalows steps from the sea and Sunrise Beach. No air-con or hot water, but the bungalows never got too hot, and the shower was powerful and relaxing. Beautiful restaurant/chill out area, with sensational views and good food, although portions were a little small. Staff throughout the resort are wonderful, from the bar to the dive shop to the spa. Happy Hour is fantastic value and the cocktails were wonderful.

A few small additions to the bungalows would help a lot, such as better lighting (they're extremely dark at night). It would also be great to have a clothes-drying rack for wet swimwear, and a tap for rinsing off sandy feet! Obviously not the fault of the hotel, but the interior of Ko Lipe is a bit of mess - full of rubbish, derelict sites etc. to the point of being actively unpleasant. Such a pity to see a beautiful island going to rack and ruin.

Enjoy the Atmosphere at Castaway

Great atmosphere and very friendly staff, food and service were very good too.

The room lighting is extremely poor, and it would be nice to have a hot water kettle in the room, considering the price we paid.

Relaxing and tranquill but quite warm.

A very tranquil resort. The restaurant /deck near the ocean is beautiful and perfect for relaxing.

The rooms are quite damp and hot due to only having fans. There is a roof fan above the bed but this you won’t feel due to the mosquito net.

Most beautiful place to stay and great beach to swim in.

We had the front seaview bungalow and it was magnificent waking up to the sunrise

Would have loved aircon in the room as it was hot all the time and needed some reprieve from the heat. There was a fan but it didn’t penetrate the mosquito net.

The best choice on Koh Lipe for this price!

Very lovely jungle cabins, cleaned every day by the staff (including new filtered water and clean towels). Staff was also very friendly and helpful. Did not miss the warm water shower, as the water is a bit warmed up by the hot temperatures during the day. Also perfect location right at the beach and a very good restaurant (one of the best on the island).

There was no wifi in the rooms, which should not be a big problem if wifi worked perfectly at the shared areas, but this was not the case. There is only a fan in the room, this would have been okay if we could have set it at one angle. Instead, it could only turn rounds and did not cool us that much during the night.

Hot box on the beach

Right on the beach and the friendly guys at the dive shop sharing coffee with us every morning and showing our 4 year old how to snorkel was so kind.

Alot of mosquito’s unfortunately, bed is rather firm. No aircon (as we knew)but stuffy and no airflow as only balcony doors to open, Lack of privacy, unfortunately the beach is swimming with plastic rubbish and full of noisy fishing boats.

Nice place to visit

The staff were always very friendly. The beach in front of the cabins was beautiful

The cabins don’t have air conditioning so you would need at least 2 fan per room to stay comfortable

Wonderful

Beachfront, delicious cocktails (happy hour!!!) and food, nice ambiance with cute cats. Good value for money with resort-style environment. Rustic chic rooms with balcony and hammocks serving tropical island vibes ️

We knew what we were getting ourselves into, however do note that there is no aircond (can ask for an extra fan) and the mosquitos are ravenous!

Location is good, very convenient as you can walk to main street, staff is friendly and helpful

Fan was a bit slow and hot, but we get a stand fan to solve that. Mosquito was our biggest enemy.

Wonderful vibe and lovely people.

The room was beautiful and the place in general has such a great vibe. It is an incredible place to relax and unwind. The food was great too.

The only issue is that we booked two rooms, one with a “sea view” which was approx 100$ more for our four night stay. The room barely had a sea view and we asked to go to one of the many garden rooms (our friends room was literally behind ours and cheaper) and was told thats not possible. We were also offered to move into a room closer to the sea but then someone else took the room when we queried the following day as suggested.

the staff, the location, the rooms, the atmosphere: simply beautiful!

The only downside of our stay was the rudeness of the diving center attached to the facility. We rented two kayaks from a French-speaking man who treated us very poorly. First, he brusquely told us to hurry because the tide was going out. Additionally, we were considering renting snorkeling masks, and when we asked if the island in front was good for snorkeling, his response (from the diving center manager!) was: "See for yourselves, I don't snorkel." We've never experienced anything like this before...
